Why Thrifting Is Better Than Shopping New

Thrifting is better for your wallet and the planet. The clothes are cheaper, more unique, and already exist.

The fashion industry is a disaster. It produces 100 billion garments per year. Most end up in landfills. Buying second hand does not contribute to that problem.

Thrifted clothes are cheaper. You can find high quality brands for a fraction of the retail price. A wool blazer that costs $300 new might be $15 at a thrift store.

Thrifted clothes are unique. Nobody else will have the same outfit. You develop a style that is actually yours, not a copy of a mannequin.

The downside is time. Thrifting takes patience. You have to dig. You will leave empty handed sometimes. That is fine.

The best thrifters go often. They know the restock days. They have a mental list of what they are looking for. Treat it as a hobby, not a chore.
